Pure cotton sheets.

Cotton, because only the most affluent people in Hyrule can afford the richness
of a vinegar-colored silk. Any fabric found in the arms of the rich is contrived
from the furthest tips of Hyrule, where hunting down the finest insects had become
a severe and dangerous operation for lower-class families.

Harsh climatic conditions in the Haunted Wastelands could kill millions before each new moon,
yet people risked their lives to put minimal food on their table. Compared to the alternative,
cotton was a bountiful fabric.

Every ten miles from Castle Town to the Ordon Village (and far up north before the Snowpeak) there is a cotton pasture. Be the size, two inches or a hundred feet, it only took about a day of labor to gather three baskets full.

With three baskets of the bountiful plant, you could make the delicacy of your choice:
two blankets, a rug, or (your personal favorite) sheets.

It seems funny how something as simple as fabric could define who you were and how you were treated. As if you were given the royal treatment because you were born in fine velvet and didn’t have to work for a pair of shoes. Of course, even the royal family had their share of cotton goods, but there was no settling when it came to the riches. It was ultimately true that Hyrule
depended heavily on a class-based system of who wore velvet and who wore cotton.

And sometimes, whatever that person could find.

All facts aside, you didn’t gather cotton for a living. And good Goddess, you would never
be allowed to set foot in the Haunted Wastelands. This was not a fate set on your life.

For a lack of better words, your life was as middle class as middle class could get.

You were born and raised in Castle Town, where your dad directed untrained Blacksmiths and your mother aided Doctor Borville at the Medical Clinic. Although you have yet to pick up either of these occupations, the simple jobs that you execute for the townsmen prove you to be a very “brought-up” and “bright” woman, as the common compliments go. You bring in just enough so that your family can enjoy another roasted cuckoo after a long week. This overexerts the kindness that you already have in your heart. It’s mostly for your parents, as family is a strong value
in your heart.

Besides family, adventure is a number-one priority. This proves to be true after your extensive interest in the stories of a Hyrulian Knight, gallantly saving the world from evil. Every mention of the deity from the streets of your hometown pumps your heart with a burst of excitement. The idea of being spontaneous had not ever occurred to you, and doing something like saving the world from destruction was huge.

Adventure: you idolized it. Maybe even doing something crazier than the norm would have been good, but not good enough. You needed an all-out adrenaline burst. You needed to do something like...like...get in a bar fight. Heck, if it weren’t for your dad’s sternness you would have been marching to Telma’s bar already!

But alas, even you knew that wasn’t spontaneous. That was just stupid.

So, to keep yourself out of any trouble, you have begun seeking relief in your safe haven: white cotton sheets rippled against your bed. Which, after being pulled over your head during nightfall, would be the place where you could daydream all night. There, no one could control what excitement you idealized about to fill your normal and boring life. There, you could travel to Zora’s domain and swim with Princess Ruto without dispersing from the life that you lived.

And most importantly, no one could kidnap the fantasy of an adolescent hero taking the biggest interest in you. The same adolescent that fights through twilight and completely defies the rules of a fabric-induced class system, for it is said that he serves the royal family in a green tunic.

Made out of cotton.
