This had to be, on the most supreme level, unfair.
You gripped the pen in your hand to the point of suffocation. Leaning over the register, the order book in front of you reflected your dark and aggravated shadow. Analyzing the number of orders that were supposed to be picked up today, you knew that it would take the entire day before you could close shop.
Tightening your lips, you read aloud the last order of the day.
“Order number 4566789: a congratulations bouquet of pink carnations. Pickup at 7:30 p.m.”
After you worked the entire week with no complaint, your latest coworker decided to take a sick day. Frankly, you wouldn’t have complained about being surrounded around nectarous goods in the little flower shop that you tended to, but you had important plans tonight. Today marked your very important three-year anniversary with Marco. He had an apparently whole day planned out for just the two of you, but this was a major setback.
It was the day that you had been waiting for all month; just you and him. But your inner happiness could, indeed, be killed. After answering that early phone call from your boss, you realized that even flower tenders could have a cruelty of heart.
You’re kidding me. Why am I the only one working today?
Suddenly, your phone fluttered on the counter next to you. Being that the store was empty, you decided it would be okay to see who it was. It was, of course, Marco.
Shortly after your boss had sentenced you to work, you made a very painful call to said man. He was very understanding, but really quiet too. His constant silence over the phone made your heart break a little more every time you thought of it. After that, you would send him a penitent text message every half an hour.
And just like every other time you apologized to him, he would be reassuring.
“(Name), don’t worry. We’ll make up for it ten times later! Be safe, I love you : )”
That man had no limit to spoiling you. Sometimes you thought he was way too good to be yours, but your beloved was always quick in correcting you. Apparently it was the other way around! Fights like these were normal. They would usually end in some intense tickling fights or make out sessions.
Oh how you loved him.
“I only have four more pick-ups before I can get out of here. Can’t wait to see you! <3”
Much to your surprise, he didn’t text back within the next hour. It made you a little nervous, but you figured that he was probably out with Jean or something. You would see him soon anyway.
“Ma’am. I’m here to pick up an order for a bouquet of calla lilies. It’s my 47th anniversary today.”
An elder man with soft skin smiled brightly at you. His benevolence influenced you lips to curl upwards.
“Oh, congratulations! You should be my second to last order today sir.”
You slipped a form for the man to sign as you went in the back to grab his bouquet.
“You know, it’s my anniversary too! Except, we’re not married. It’s a marvel that people stay together for so long.”
From the back room, you heard the man hum in acknowledgement before it eased off. It sounded like he started another conversation. Probably with another person in line, ready to check out.
What you didn’t expect to see was the elder man laughing with Marco.
After coming from the back room, you almost wanted to hide your face in the lush forest of flowers. He was chaste and very handsome. Even after being with him for so long, he still caught you off guard! Before you could press him with questions, the elderly man cleared his throat.
“This young man’s anniversary is today too. And I thought the day I met my beloved was unique!”
“Me too.” Marco chuckled. He gazed at you handling the flowers, pure and simple. You ceded the flowers to the man before you wished him a good day.
“You know, those flowers really complimented your complexion miss. I hope your husband has flowers for you when you get home.”
“Hmm, I’m not married.” You flashed a sarcastic smile his way.
“Oh really? Was a coincidence, neither am I!” You laughed at his enthusiasm.
“Seriously, what are you doing here? I thought you would be out with Jean.”
He bit his lower lips before his smile returned. His finger began to pat on the granite counter.
“I’m…actually here to pick up some flowers. I ordered them ahead of time last week.”
“Ordered flowers?” You looked down at your order book before you realized something. Order 4566789 is a celebratory bouquet.
A celebratory bouquet. As in for celebrating special occasions.
“You ordered me flowers from my own store…?” You didn’t know whether to be really happy or really skeptical of his actions. Either way, it made you want to melt.
“I didn’t think you would be working today. I guess that was still bad on my part.” He scratched the back of his head. “I’m sorry if this isn’t exactly how you wanted them. Maybe next time I’ll actually-“
You appeased Marco’s apology. Grabbing his face, you planted a warm kiss on his lips. He couldn’t help but return it in a generous amount. His lips parted and became graced with a sheepish smile.
“Erm…you’re very good at kissing miss. But isn’t it against your work policy to show public affection?”
You slipped the pleased man a receipt.
“Just shush and sign this.”

metaphors | marco (short)
She is the wind. She chills you to the bone with just a touch. She can sooth you on a summer afternoon, in the hot air and the sun's burning heat.
She is a burning fire, and she is so very, very luminous. She is difficult to handle, but alluring, shedding light even in the darkest places in me.
She is a work of art. Eye-catching, breathtaking. One that makes you want to share with others how wonderful it is, how beautiful and amazing.
She is a fragile, delicate, glass figurine. She breaks easily if you're not careful, and if you are, it will last forever. Delicate, yes, but her broken edges can cut you and make you bleed.

Marco Bodt was the new kid who got your attention, specifically. He had classes with you, core classes mainly, which you were glad and squealing inside for the past few days. The teacher assigned you to be his tour guide of the school, making you a little too giddy.
Today you had to show him around your second building of the school.

Hello! Thought it was about time for me to write some more Attack on Titan fan fic, considering my box is about empty.
Marco is moderately written about, so I thought it would be rather fun to write something fluffy about him!
I must also let you know that it is a "Flourist!Reader" fan fiction.
I hope you enjoy!
I do not own Attack on Titan, Marco, or the beautiful picture above.
Just another silly fanfic!
